Holt Extension & Renovation

This was a modest 120m2 split level late 70’s home in a quiet loop street not far from Kippax shops. With a growing family the client had the choice to move or extend, however as they were extremely happy with their current location they chose the latter. When they approached us they already had their own plans designed by New Age Design Services and just required approval with which we provided assistance.

All three existing bedrooms to the front of the house were extended forward a total of 24m2 and reconfigured to provide a space for a two flight staircase with midway landing. Other work to the ground floor was on the lower split level, with the removal and bricking up of an unused external timber door, plus removal of a window to replace with a wider sliding door to provide direct access from the kitchen to their existing spacious deck and entertainment area.

Upstairs we added just under 100m2 of floor space, including a spacious master bedroom, extensive walk through robe and a grand two way ensuite. Perhaps the pinnacle of this first floor extension was the provision of a rumpus room, inclusive of two large fixed panel windows with a breathtaking view out towards the Brindabella Mountains. A fireplace with stack stone feature wall between the windows tops off this wonderful space.

Externally the finish is a two tone acrylic texture render over the existing dated lower brickwork, and the use of the Dulux Exsulite cladding system to the first floor extension providing impressive insulation qualities along with all the new Trend Quantum double glazed window units. The whole home was also freshened up with a coat of paint allowing the family to enjoy their newly extended and renovated 240m2 home for years to come.
